MEMORABLE PROJECTS

PHOTO GALLERY - TALL TALES

Some projects are pretty routine; others are worth taking before and after pictures!

The Sandy Bottom Pool: Sand Bottom pools take much care to swap out the liner. More easily damaged than vermiculite, once the surface is smoothed, any footsteps, dragging the liner, etc., will be permanently below the new liner.

After sitting for a season, we uncovered a green pool that had its slopes slipping over time. All areas were resurfaced with many buckets of sand. This pool featured a vinyl covered stair set, which is a part of the manufactured liner.

Once fully filled, the steps settled in nicely and match the rest of the pool.

The Forgotten Pool: This pool suffered damage to its cover and liner while closed. Never repaired, it became the collection of a barbeque grill, cartridge filter, silverware, a television, cinder blocks, glass bottles, even a DVD player. The new owners asked if it could be a pool again. We tested the lines, looked over the coping, walls, steps and assured them that it could look like a pool again. With a new vermiculite surface, fresh plastics, and all new equipment, this pool will have its first swim season in 2021! We'll get a filled picture attached to this gallery soon.

The Wooden Pool: Built in the 70s and 80s, these pools are are plywood walls on wooden studs and deck surround, with a vermiculite or sand base. They are most commonly placed on hillsides, with portions against the earth or visible on the downhill side. This pool, left empty for half of a season, suffered damage to its vermiculite. Anything that flakes off is removed and many bags of vermiculite are mixed for repair. No simple task, the plastic liner track is fixed to the plywood, and must be checked during liner installation.

The pool that started our before and after pictures! This repeat customer first got a liner, and a season later, their safety cover. Now a year-round showpiece, this backyard features a low maintenance pool in the off-season.

The Big One: Our largest pool to date, this 25 x 52 foot pool had a liner that should have came in two boxes!

As a semi-public pool with lifeguarding duties, the replacement liner was a no-pattern, safety blue. One liner vacuum pulled the liner to shape and this liner snapped right in wrinkle-free.

This showpiece was a victim to fall leaves. A tired liner, we were asked to do our magic. Featuring vinyl covered step entry, this large pool quickly cleaned up and looks great with a sandstone deck.

Sand Bottom! This pool remains one of the most difficult of installs in memory due to the KAFCO coping with a two piece locking system and sand base.

Under-liner Algae: While not noticeable from above the liner, the vermiculite holds groundwater that is always present. When we opened up this liner, we found algae. Quickly treated and dried in the sun, this pool was ready for the next liner.
